11/20/1994 Anniversary of the Opening of the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta

On the Solemnity of Christ the King, 20 November, 1994 in the Mother church of Corato, Mons. Carmelo Cassati, Archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie, having received the Non Obstare issued by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, blessed the opening of the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, secular third order Dominican. With the Archbishop himself as president of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal, joined by enthusiastic faithful from southern Italy and around the world, Luisa began her triumphal journey toward the Honors of the Altar.

On October 29, 2005, the conclusion of the Diocesan Phase of the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta, was officially celebrated and transferred to the Vatican.

The Truth, Bearer of Divine Seeds. How Knowledge forms New Divine Lives. The glory that the soul will receive in return, in Heaven. One who lives abandoned in Jesus’s arms is His favorite.

I am always returning to the Divine Volition. Its Immensity is such that while I am in the middle of Its ocean, trying in vain to embrace all Its Acts (since it takes centuries to do it, and still, they would not be enough to embrace all Its Acts), I seem to come back to my smallness.

So, while I was wandering in the Fiat, my sweet Jesus, who needs the love of those who want to Live in His Will, told me: “My blessed daughter, it is only when I speak about My Will that My Love can find Peace, and that It calms down from Its anxiety and delirium. In the Word, in the Truth I Manifest, It finds sweet Rest, because It sees Its Love taking place in the creatures, in order to receive Love in return and form Its Life. It is necessary to Manifest the Merits and the Goods contained in It in order to attract and enchant the creature to Live in It, otherwise they won’t move.

“Now, you must know that every Knowledge I Manifest and every act done in my Will, thanks to this Knowledge, is like a Divine Seed acquired by the soul. This Seed will produce New Divine Science. O! how she will be able to speak the language of her Creator. Every Truth will be a New Celestial Language with the virtue of being understandable to those who listen and want to receive this Divine Seed. This Seed will produce New Life of Sanctity, New Love, New Goodness, New Joy and Happiness. These Seeds of Truth will be as many Divine Properties acquired by the soul.

“The Joy We receive when the soul operates in Our Will is such that We communicate It to all the Blessed. You must know that as many are the Divine Seeds that the soul acquires by Knowledge of My Fiat, so many more Degrees of Our Knowledge and Glory will We extend to her when, having finished her life down here, she will come to Our Heavenly Fatherland. To each Knowledge acquired on earth will correspond a Double Knowledge of Our Supreme Entity in Our Celestial Residence. To each Divine Seed a degree of Glory, Joy and Happiness. Therefore, the Happiness, Joy and Glory of the Blessed will be in proportion to how much they will have known Us. Consider, for example, a man who did not study different languages. In hearing them being spoken, he will not understand a thing. Moreover, he certainly could not be employed as a teacher of these languages to let him earn a higher salary. He will only be able to teach the little he knows and earn little money.

“In the same way, if men do not know Us on earth, they won’t make enough room in their souls to be able to receive all Our Joy and Happiness. Even if We desire to give it to them, it would just not fit, and they would not understand anything. Therefore, the Glory of the Blessed will correspond to how many acts in Our Will they have done: Glory and Joy will be higher the more Knowledge they acquired. This can make the Blessed reach such a height that all the Celestial Court will be amazed, because each additional Knowledge is a New Divine Life that the soul acquires, a Life with Infinite Goods and Joys.

“Do you think it’s nothing for the souls to possess many of Our New Divine Lives as her own property? What we will not give of Joy, Happiness and Love, in return for these New Divine Lives that she possesses! We long for Our children who will Live in Our Will, to make Ourselves known on earth, since It will be their Teacher of the New Sciences of their Creator and will make them Beautiful, Wise, Holy and Noble, according to the Knowledge acquired. We await them in Our Celestial Court to inundate them with Our New Joys, Beauties and Happiness, that We haven’t been able to give until now. And since in Heaven all the Blessed are bound together as a Family, Loving each other in a Perfect way, they will all participate in the Glory and Joy of these children; not as direct Glory and Joy, but in an indirect way, thanks to the bond of Love among themselves. So, We want Our Will to be known on earth in order to show, from the depth of Our Divine Womb, New Infinite Joys and Happiness to those who Live in It.”

Then He added with Unspeakable Tenderness: “My good daughter, I Love creatures very much, but I feel more captured, won and attracted to Love the soul that Lives abandoned in My arms, as if she had nobody in the world—only her Jesus—trusting Me and Me only. If she is offered other kinds of support she refuses them, to have only the support of her Jesus who holds her tightly in His arms, defending her and taking care of her completely. These are the souls that I Love very, very much—My favorite ones. I surround them with My Divine Power. I build around them the wall of My Love. Woe to those who touch them! My Love will know how to defend them and My Power will know how to topple those who want to displease her.

“The souls abandoned in Me, Live only of Me and I of them, as if We Lived on one Breath and one Love. If some human support arises, they look into it to see if I’m there, and if I’m not, they run away to find shelter in My arms. Only these are the souls I can really trust, confide to them My Secrets, and lean on them as well. I am certain that they do not get out of My Will because they are always with Me. The one who doesn’t Live abandoned in Me, instead, runs away from My arms; she does not refuse human supports. Rather, she gets a taste for them. She is inconstant. One moment she looks for Me, another, for creatures. She is forced to feel the disillusion from creatures that opens deep gashes in the soul, and she feels the earth in her heart—My Will as Life, far away from herself.

“O, if everyone abandoned themselves in My arms! The earth would disappear for them, they wouldn’t pay attention to anybody, I would be enough for all. I Love, so much, the one who Lives abandoned in My arms that I show her the Greatest Excesses of My Love, My Love jokes, My caresses. I reach the point of inventing New Love tricks to keep them busy and centered in My Love. Therefore, Live abandoned in My arms and in everything you will find your Jesus defending, helping and sustaining you.”

11/18 Dedication of the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul

We owe to the Holy Apostles the priceless treasure of the Christian faith. They handed Chris’s teachings down to us. From them, we recede the Holy Gospel and the letters of the Apostles. They laid a firm foundation for the Church of Christ.

Both Apostles St. Peter and St. Paul are distinguished for this character, their zealous apostolic labors and their great cult in the Holy Church.

The Basilica of St. Peter on the Vatican and that of St. Paul outside the Walls were consecrated by St. Slyvester on November 18th.

The Basilica of St. Peter’s was completely rebuilt in the 16th century when it was falling into decay. Julius II and Leo X had recourse to the greatest artists of the age, Bramante and Michael Angelo. Urban VIII consecrated this church, the vastest and richest in the world, on November 18, 1626.

The Basilica of St. Paul, on the Ostian Way, was nearly completely destroyed by fire in 1823. The church was rebuilt with unheard of magnificence by Gregory XVI and Pius IX, and consecrated by the latter on December 10, 1854, two days after the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, having great plans for St. Peter at the beginning of his calling, changed the name Simon to the symbolic name of Peter-Cephas, which means rock, for he was to be the rock that will form the foundation of His Church. St. Peter was closely associated with Christ during His public life: He witnessed the glory of Christ on Mt. Tabor; in the name of all the Apostles, he professed the Divinity of Christ; he was sent with St. John to prepare the Paschal Supper; He witnessed Christ’s agony in the Garden of Olives; the temple tax was paid by Christ for Himself and for Peter.

After the Ascension of Christ, St. Peter became the head of the Apostles and the leader of the first Christian community in Jerusalem. Under his leadership, a new Apostle was elected to take the place of Judas. Peter convoked the first church Council in Jerusalem. St. John Chrysostom calls Peter “the firstborn lamb from the flock of the Good Sheperd.”

The love of Christ was the chief motive of St. Peter’s apostolic activity, labors and sacrifices. That love finally led him to suffer and die for the sake of his beloved Teacher. A pious tradition relates that he considered himself unworthy to die on the cross as Christ did, and therefore asked to be crucified upside down. This tradition is confirmed by Bishop Eusebius (+340) in his History of the Church, and by St. John Chrysostom in a sermon on the Apostles SS. Peter and Paul, in which he says: “Rejoice, Peter, who dies on the cross head downward.” St. Peter died in Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero (54-58), between the years of 64-67 A.D.

St. Paul did not belong to the original group of the twelve apostles, but through his apostolic labors, his dedication, his superhuman sacrifices, and his sufferings in the service of Christ, he receive the title, along with Peter, of the First Apostle. He is the only one of the Apostles who was highly educated and was by birth a Roman citizen. While Paul was on his way to Damascus, Christ Himself converted him in a miraculous manner and called him to be an Apostle. After his conversion from being a persecutor of Christians, he became, in heart and soul, a zealous and courageous apostle of Christ.

“Paul was a wolf,” says St. Chrysostom, “But he became a lamb. He was a thorn, but he became a fruitful vine. From an enemy, he became a friend; from a weed, he became wholesome bread . . . The blasphemer became a theologian; the persecutor, a herald of good news; the tormentor – a leader; the traitor – a fellow-champioin.” (On the Holy Twelve Apostles)

In his apostolic work, St. Paul distinguished himself as a man of uncompromising character, remarkable strength of will and fervent spirit. For many years, he fearlessly preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ day and night. His unlimited love for Christ knew no obstacle, recognized no difficulties, and placed no limit to sacrifice. His love impelled him to undertake great missionary journeys and to establish new Churches; he was always ready to suffer and die for Christ.

The apostle of the Gentiles was not only an excellent preacher and a good organizer, but also an eminent theologian and writer. From him we have fourteen letters addressed to various Churches or persons in which he clearly expounds the teachings of Christ. St. Paul gave up his life for Christ in 65 or 67 A.D.

Since Luisa must live from the Heart of Jesus, He gives her rules in order to undertake a more perfect way of living.

While I am outside of myself, my adorable Jesus continues to show me my heart inside of His – but so transformed, that I can no longer recognize which one is mine and which one is Jesus’s. He has conformed it perfectly to His own; He has impressed on it all the insignia of the Passion, making me understand that, from the moment of His conception His Heart was conceived with these insignia of the Passion; so much so, that what He suffered at the end of His life was an outpouring of that which His Heart had suffered continuously. I seemed to see one just like the other. I seemed to see my beloved Jesus occupied with preparing the place in which He was to put the heart, perfuming it and bejeweling it with many different flowers. And while He was doing this, He told me: “My beloved, since you must live from my Heart, it is appropriate for you to undertake a more perfect way of living. Therefore, from you I want:

Perfect conformity to my Will, because you will only be able to love Me perfectly if you love Me with my own Will. Even more, I tell you that by loving Me with my own Will, you will arrive at loving Me, and your neighbor, with my same way of loving.
Profound humility, placing yourself, in front of Me and of creatures, as the last among all.
Purity in everything, because any slightest fault against purity, both in loving and in operating, is reflected all in the heart, and it remains stained. Therefore I want purity to be like dew upon the flowers at the rising of the sun, which, its rays reflecting upon them, transmutes those little drops into as many precious pearls, such as to enchant the people. In the same way, if all your works, thoughts and words, heartbeats and affections, desires and inclinations, are adorned with the celestial dew of purity, you will weave a sweet enchantment, not only for the human eye, but for the whole of Heaven.
Obedience, which must be connected with my Will, because if this virtue regards the superiors I have given you on earth, my Will is obedience which regards Me directly; so much so, that it can be said that both one and the other are virtues of obedience – with this difference alone: one regards God, and the other regards men. However, both of them have the same value, and one cannot be without the other; therefore you must love both one and the other in the same way.”

Then He added: “Know that from now on you will live with my Heart, and you must see things the way my Heart does, that I may find my satisfactions in you. Therefore be careful, for this is no longer your heart, but Mine.”

In the last Supper Jesus gave Luisa the place of honor between Himself and John. He gave Himself as food to all, in order to receive food from all. The will of man is that which makes him more like His Creator. The human will is the depository of all the works of man.

I was thinking about the act in which Jesus had the Last Supper with His disciples, and my lovable Jesus told me in my interior: “My daughter, while I was having supper with my disciples, I was surrounded not only by them, but by the whole human family. I had all creatures near Me, one by one; I knew them all, and I called them by name. I also called you, and I gave you the place of honor between Me and John, constituting you the little secretary of my Will. And as I divided the lamb, in offering it to my Apostles, I gave it to all and to each one. That lamb, bled dry, roasted, cut to pieces, spoke about Me; it was the symbol of my Life and of how I was to reduce Myself for Love of all. And I wanted to give it to all as delicious food, which represented my Passion, because everything I did, said and suffered was converted by my Love into food for man. But do you know why I called everyone and gave the lamb to all? Because I too wanted food from them. I wanted everything they would do to be food for Me. I wanted the food of their love, of their works, of their words – of everything.”

And I: ‘My Love, how can it be that our works become food for You?’ And Jesus: “It is not on bread alone that one can live, but on everything to which my Will gives virtue of making one live. If bread nourishes man, it is because I want it so. Now, whatever the creature disposes with her will to make of her work – that is the form which it assumes. If with her work she wants to form food for Me, she forms food for Me; if Love, she gives Me Love; if reparation, she forms reparation. And if in her will she wants to offend Me, she makes of her work the knife to wound Me, and maybe even to kill Me.”

Then He added: “The will of man is that which makes him more like His Creator. In the human will I placed part of my Immensity and of my Power, and giving it the place of honor, I constituted it queen of the whole of man and depository of all of his works. Just as creatures have chests in which they keep their things to maintain them secured, the soul has her will in which to keep and secure all that she thinks, says and does. Not even one thought will be lost. What she cannot do with her eyes, with her mouth, with her works, she can do with her will – in one instant she can will a thousand goods and a thousand evils. The will makes her thought fly up to Heaven, to the farthest places and deep into the abysses. She might be prevented from working, from seeing, from speaking, but she can do all this in her will. Whatever she does and wants, forms an act which remains deposited in her own will. Oh, how the will can be expanded! How much good and how much evil can it not contain? This is why, among all things, I want the will of man: because if I have this, I have everything – the fortress is conquered.”
