 Our Lord Jesus Christ to the Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta, The Little Daughter of the Divine Will

 VOLUME 11

 November 25, 1912

Jesus makes Luisa content, making her suffer without moving her from His Most Holy Will. There are two stairways to Heaven:
one of wood, for those who take the path of virtue; and one of gold, for those
who live in the Divine Will.

This morning my always adorable Jesus, though He came in the usual way, seemed to me as if He was just passing through. He was anxious to see me again and to be with me in a familiar way. In seeing Him so good, so sweet and benign, I forgot all about my troubles – my privations; and seeing Him with a big thick crown of thorns, I told Him: ‘Sweet Love and my Life, show me if you still love me. Remove this crown from around your head and place it on mine, with your own hands.’

Soon adorable Jesus removed it and pressed it on my head with His own hands. Oh, how happy I felt with the thorns of Jesus – sharp, yes, but sweet! He looked at me with loving tenderness and, feeling so tenderly observed, I bravely added: ‘Jesus, my heart, the thorns are not enough for me. To be certain that You love me as before, don’t You also have the nails with which to nail me? Hurry, O Jesus, don’t keep me in doubt; for the only doubt of not being always loved by You, gives me continual death! Pierce me!’

And He: “Dear daughter(Luisa), I cannot find the nails, but in order to make you(Luisa) content, I will pierce you(Luisa) with a piece of iron.” So He took my hands and ripped them open, very far; and then my feet. I suffered, yes; I felt as if I was swimming in a sea of pain, but also of love and sweetness. It seemed that Jesus could not remove His tender and loving gaze from me; arranging me and covering me completely with His royal mantle, He told me: “My sweet daughter(Luisa), cease now any doubt about my Love for you(Luisa). Even more, in order to give you(Luisa) courage I tell you(Luisa) that no matter your state, or whether you(Luisa) see Me concerned, or flashing by, or silent, remember that one single renewal of my thorns or nails to you(Luisa) will be enough to place us again in our loving closeness and intimacy – more than before. Therefore, be content, and I will continue with
the scourges of the world.”

He told me other things, but the intensity of the pain does not allow me to remember them well. Then I remained alone again, without Jesus, and I poured myself out with my sweet Mama, crying and praying Her to make Jesus come back. My Mama told me: “My sweet daughter(Luisa) do not cry. You(Luisa) must thank Jesus for the way He behaves with you(Luisa) and for the grace He gives you(Luisa), not allowing you(Luisa) to move away from His Most Holy Will, in these times of chastisements. Greater grace He could not give you(Luisa).”

After this, Jesus came back and, noticing that I had cried, told me: “Have you cried?” And I: ‘I cried with Mama; I didn’t cry with anyone else, and I  did it because You were not here.’ Jesus took my hands in His hands, and it seemed that He was soothing my pains; then He showed me two high stairways, from earth up to Heaven. On one of them there were more people – very few on the other one. The one on which there were only few people was of solid gold, and it seemed that those few who were going up were other Jesuses – each one of them was one Jesus. On the other one, which seemed to be made of wood, there were more people, and they could be distinguished and identified – almost all short and not very developed.

Jesus told me: “My daughter(Luisa), those who lived their lives in my Life ascend on the golden stairs; I can say that they are my feet, my hands, my Heart – the whole of Myself. Just as you(Luisa) can see that they are another Me, they are everything to Me, and I am their life. Their actions are all of gold and of incalculable price, because they are Divine. Nobody will ever be able to reach their height because they are my very Life; almost without anyone knowing them, because they are hidden within Me. Only in Heaven will they be perfectly known.

On the wooden stairs there are more souls; these are the souls who walk along the way of the virtues, but not in union with my Life and with the continuous connection of my Will. Their actions are of wood, (since only the union with Me forms golden actions), therefore their price is minimal. These souls are short, almost scrawny, because many human purposes are mixed in with their good actions, and human purposes do not produce growth. They are known to everyone, because they are not hidden within Me, but within themselves; therefore, nobody covers them. They will not cause any surprise for Heaven, since they were known also on earth.

Therefore, my daughter(Luisa), I want you(Luisa) completely in my Life, with nothing in yours, and I entrust to you(Luisa) the ones you know and see, that they may keep themselves strong and constant on the stairway of my Life.” He pointed to me someone whom I know, and disappeared. May all be for His Glory.

December 25, 1908

How to make Jesus be born and grow in your hearts.

Finding myself in my usual state, I was longing for little Baby Jesus, and after many hardships, He made Himself seen in my interior as a little Baby, and told me: “My daughter(Luisa), the best way to make Me be born in one’s own heart, is to empty oneself of everything, because in finding empty space, I can place all my goods in it. And only then can I remain in it forever, if there is room to be able to carry all that belongs to Me, all that is my own. A person who went to live in the house of someone else, could be called happy only if he found empty space in which to be able to put all of his belongings; otherwise, he would be unhappy. So I am.

The second thing in order to make Me be born and to increase my happiness, is that everything the soul contains, both internal and external – everything, must be done for Me; everything must serve to honor Me, to execute my orders. If only one thing, one thought, one word, is not for Me, I feel unhappy, and while I should be the master, they make Me a slave. Can I tolerate all this?

The third one is heroic love, magnified love, love of sacrifice. These three loves make my happiness grow in a marvelous way, because they render the soul capable of works which are superior to her strengths, as she does them with my strength alone. They will expand her, by making not only her, but also others love Me. And she will reach the point of enduring anything, even death, in order to triumph in everything, and be able to say to Me: ‘I have nothing else; everything is only love for You.’ In this way, she will not only make Me be born, but will make Me grow, and will form a beautiful paradise in her heart.”

As He was saying this, I looked at Him, and from little, in one instant He became big, in such a way that I remained completely filled with Him. Then everything disappeared.

THE SOUL WHO OPERATES IN THE DIVINE WILL GIVES FOR ALL AND RECEIVES FOR ALL

April 2, 1921

The soul who operates in the Divine Will gives for all and receives for all. 

I feel my poor mind as though stunned, and I lack the words to put on paper what I feel. If my Jesus wants me to write, He will deign to say in words what He infuses in Me by means of light. I just remember that, in coming, He said to me: “My daughter(Luisa), in one who prays, loves, repairs, kisses Me, adores Me in my Will, I feel as if all were praying Me, loving Me, etc. In fact, since my Will envelops everything and everyone in my Volition, the soul gives Me the kiss, the love, the adoration of all; and in looking at everyone in her, I give her as many kisses, as much love, as I should be giving to all.

In my Will the soul is not content if she does not see Me fully loved by all, if she does not see Me kissed, adored and prayed by all. In my Will things cannot be left half-done, but must be complete. And I cannot give small things to the soul who acts in my Volition; but rather, immense things, which can be sufficient for all. I behave with the soul who acts in my Volition like a person who wanted to have a work done by ten people. Now, only one of these ten people offers himself to do the work; all the others refuse. Is it not fair that he give to that one everything which he should give to all ten? Otherwise, where would be the difference between one who acts in my Will and one who acts in his own will?”

 June 6, 1937

Interest that God has that the creature Lives in His Will.  Dowry that He will give.  Sentinel of Jesus in order to supply for what she lacks, and if necessary, He will also do Miracles.  Example of a king.

I felt myself in the arms of the Divine Volition, and I thought to myself:  “It seems difficult to me that one can Live perfectly in It.  Life is full of obstacles, of sufferings, and of such circumstances, that one remains as absorbed, and it escapes:  his rapid course that as breath and heartbeat must run in that Divine Fiat, like Its Breath and Heartbeat in ours that always runs in order to give us Life without ever stopping.”

And my sweet Jesus, commiserating my ignorance, all Goodness told me:  “My blessed daughter(Luisa), you(Luisa) must know that the first thing of most interest, is that Our Supreme Being wants that the creature Live in Our Will, this having been the Unique Purpose for which We have given her life.  Now, when We want, We give all the means, the helps, the necessary things, that are needed in order to have that she would be able to give Us what We want from her, and if a continuous Miracle on Our part is necessary, We do it, provided that We obtain Our Intent.  You do not know what an act wanted by Us and completed in the creature means.  So much is Its Value, the Glory that she gives Us, that she arrives at making herself Our Crown; she embraces the Eternal One.  And so much is the Contentment that she gives Us, that We place Our Divine Being at the disposition of the creature, in order to have that Our Wanted and Complete Act would have Its Life in her.

“Now, the first dowry that We give to the one who wants to Live in Our Divine Will, the first support, the secure defense, are the Truths; these open the entry, they pave the way and, jealous, place themselves as faithful sentinels around the one who wants to Live in My Fiat.  The Light of Our Truths that belongs to It does not move anymore from over the fortunate one.  It Invests her, It caresses her, It molds her, It kisses her, and It gives Itself sip by sip to her intelligence in order to make Itself understood—and this for the cortege of the Life of My Volition that Reigns in her.  The Truths, when they spring from Our Bosom, have their task of the Good that they must do, the souls that they must enclose in the Light that they possess, and therefore they are all eyes over them, they fix on them so much that they cannot escape.  Nor do they become tired, although the centuries might pass, they are always at their place. 

“See, therefore, what Great Dowry I will give to the one who must Live in Our Eternal Volition:  all the Knowledges that I have Manifested about It, the Immense Values, Its Worth, Its Love, and the Love that has pushed Me to Manifesting them, will be the Great Dowry, and Divine Dowry, that I will give to who will want to Live in My Fiat—in which they will find all the Superabundant helps in order to render themselves Rich and Happy.  They will find in these Truths the Tender Mother who, taking them onto her lap as little babies, wraps them with Light, feeds them food, and lets them sleep on her bosom.  In order to keep them secure she walks in their steps, works in their hands, speaks in their voice, Loves and Palpitates in their hearts.  And in order to keep them attentive and entertained, she acts as Teacher to them, telling them the enchanting scenes of the Celestial Fatherland.  In these Truths they will find the one who cries and suffers together with them, the one who knows how to put in traffic even their breath.  The littlest things, the trifles themselves, will change for them into Divine Conquests, and Eternal Values.”

And I:  “My Jesus, You are right, but human weakness is so much, that I fear that I would make little escapes from within Your Will.”

And Jesus, resuming His speaking, added:  “My daughter(Luisa), your fears displease Me.  You(Luisa) must know that so much is My Interest, the Love that burns Me, because I want that the soul Lives in My Will, that I take the commitment of everything, I supply for her in everything.  However I do this when there has been a firm and constant decision of wanting to Live in It, and she does not lack on her part, she does however much she can.  Listen to a Secret of Mine, My daughter(Luisa), and where My Love makes Me reach.  Listen to what I do when, for strict necessity of the human life—this life that is also Mine—because of sufferings that I Myself dispose, so the creature remains as stupefied and lost, therefore she does not know how to follow the Acts of the Life that Reigns in her.  I, because I want that this Life does not remain interrupted, because It being Life—not virtue that can do acts at intervals and circumstances, but Life—there is all the necessity of the continuous Act—I am who am on watch and jealous, I maintain the sentinel over her.  As I see that she interrupts her course, I do what she should do, such that My Operating in My Fiat shakes her and she returns into herself, and she follows her course in My Volition.  And I, without even saying anything to her about her stop, I Retie from where she left off and where My Act followed, in a way that the Life of My Fiat remains never interrupted in her, because I have supplied for everything.  More so because in her will she wanted to, but weakness interrupted her. 

“This is why My Love is so much that I want that she Lives in My Will, that at whatever cost, even if continuous Miracles would be needed, I will do them.  But have you(Luisa) noticed My Tenderness, My Strong Love?  That having failed to keep her course I do not reproach her, I do not say anything to her, and if I see that she notices that she has failed, I make her Courageous, I commiserate her in order to not place mistrust in her, and all Goodness I say to her:  ‘Do not fear, I have supplied for you, and you will be more attentive, is it not true?’  And she, at seeing My Goodness, Loves Me even more.  I know that I must give of Mine in order to have that the creature Lives in My Will, and therefore I will act like a king who greatly loves that his kingdom be populated.  He makes it known by the whole world that whoever wants to can come into his kingdom.  He wants it known in order to send them money for the trip, that he will let them find a residence at their disposition, abundant clothes and foods.  The king ventures to give them such riches as to render them rich and happy.  So much will be the goodness of this king, that he will live together with the people, whom he loves so much that with his riches he has ransomed them from the miseries and unhappiness of life.

“Such am I.  I will make known to the entire world that I want the people of My Divine Volition, and provided they give Me their name and will let Me know that they want to come into My Kingdom, I will give them all the Goods.  Unhappiness will have no place in him, each one will possess Its Kingdom, he will be king of himself, and they will Live together with their Creator.  I will display so much in giving, that everyone will remain enraptured by it.  My daughter(Luisa), O! how I long for this Living of the creature in My Will, and you(Luisa) pray and long for it together with Me, and it will be sweet for you(Luisa) to place your life for a Kingdom so Holy.”

March 23, 1921

The Divine Will renders the soul little. Luisa is the littlest of all.

As I was in my usual state, I found myself outside of myself together with Jesus, and I said to Him: “My Love, I want You to hear what I do to enter your Volition, to see whether you like it or not.’ So I said what I usually say when I enter His Will – which I don’t think it is necessary to repeat here, since I have said it somewhere else. And Jesus gave me a kiss, approving, with His kiss, of what I was saying to Him. Then He said to me: “My daughter(Luisa), my Will has the special virtue of rendering souls little, making them become so little as to feel the extreme need for my Will to administer life to them. Their littleness is such that they are unable to make one act or take one step if my Will does not administer that act or that step to them. So they live completely at the expense of my Will, because their littleness carries no baggage, either of things from their own, or of love of self; rather, they take everything from my Will – and not to keep it for themselves, but to give it to Me. And since they need everything, they live dissolved in my Will.

Listen, I went round the earth over and over again; I looked at all creatures, one by one, in order to find the littlest of all. Among many I found you(Luisa) – the littlest of all. I liked your littleness and I chose you(Luisa). I entrusted you(Luisa) to my Angels, so that they might keep you(Luisa), not to make you(Luisa) grow, but to preserve your littleness. And now I want to begin the great work of the fulfillment of my Will; nor will you(Luisa) feel greater because of this; on the contrary, my Will will make you(Luisa) even smaller, and you(Luisa) will continue to be the little daughter of your Jesus – the Little Daughter of my Will.”
